Rangpur: Director General (DG) of the Department of Women Affairs, Keya Khan, highlighted the significance of grassroots level indomitable women as a source of inspiration for society. Speaking at a function organized to honor 40 indomitable women from Rangpur division, Khan emphasized the vision of a future where men and women work together with mutual respect, security, and dignity.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event took place at the Rangpur Parjatan Motel auditorium, organized by the Divisional Commissioner’s Office and the Department of Women’s Affairs of Rangpur. This initiative, under the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs, aims to inspire and motivate women in remote areas who are overcoming challenges in various fields.
Keya Khan, as the chief guest, praised the awardees for setting an example by overcoming adversities. She acknowledged the government’s efforts towards women’s empowerment but pointed out that challenges like child marriage persist. Khan stressed the importance of men’s awareness and cooperation in ensuring women’s empowerment.
Presiding over the function, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam described the ‘Indomitable Women’s Award’ as a commendable initiative. He acknowledged the achievements of the 40 women awarded in five categories, stating that their work and talent will inspire others, while emphasizing that hard work is never wasted.
The event also featured speeches from DIG of Rangpur Range, Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal, and Additional Director of the Department of Women’s Affairs Md Monir Hossain. Officials announced that five women were selected as the best indomitable women at the event, each recognized for achievements in different categories.
The best indomitable women honored include Masuma Khanam for economic success, Farhana Binte Alam for success in education and employment, Marina Besra as a successful mother, Hosne Ara Begum for starting anew after overcoming torture, and Advocate Anjuman Ara Shapla for outstanding social development contributions.
