Magura: An agricultural incentive program has been inaugurated in Magura Sadar Upazila under the Kharif-1 season of the 2025-26 fiscal year to enhance crop production and support local farmers. The initiative aims to provide essential resources such as free seeds, fertilizers, and onion storage airflow machines to small and marginal farmers in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inauguration ceremony took place at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, where Md. Monowar Hossain Khan, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Magura-1 constituency, officially launched the program as the chief guest. The event featured a welcome speech by Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Masud Rana and was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Meher Nahar.
Under this program, a total of 2,000 farmers in the upazila are set to receive 5 kg of Ufshi Aus paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer each. Additionally, 160 farmers will benefit from 5 kg of mung bean seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP each. To promote the use of modern technology in onion preservation, 40 farmers will be provided with airflow machines, each with a storage capacity of 12,000 kilograms.
During his speech, the chief guest emphasized that these incentive programs align with the government’s farmer-friendly policies and are crucial for boosting agricultural production and enhancing the livelihoods of farmers. The event was attended by local public representatives, agriculture department officials and staff, and beneficiary farmers.
