Narayanganj: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today took cognisance of a formal charge against 12 individuals, including former Narayanganj-4 lawmaker Shamim Osman and his son Imtinan Osman Ayon, alias Ayon Osman, for alleged crimes against humanity during the July Mass Uprising, and issued arrest warrants.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order in response to a prosecution plea and scheduled January 26 for the accused to be presented before the court. Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim stated, “We have brought three charges against them for killing 10 people in Narayanganj on July 19, 21 and August 5, 2024.”

The prosecution filed the formal charge at the ICT Registrar’s office earlier today. Previously, on October 12, 2025, the tribunal had set a deadline of January 11, 2026, for submitting the probe report in a case against Ayon Osman and seven others, which was lodged over crimes against humanity in Narayanganj during the July-August Mass Uprising.

According to the prosecution, Shamim Osman and his associates allegedly executed mass killings in an effort to quash the Mass Uprising, thus committing crimes against humanity in Narayanganj.
