Rajshahi: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered two foreign-made pistols, four magazines, and eight rounds of ammunition from a Padma River’s char area in the district on Sunday night. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the paramilitary force carried out the operation around 11:30 pm at the bordering area under Katakhali Police Station in the metropolis, a BGB press release said here last night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BGB sources revealed that the firearms and ammunition were recovered from a bag buried underground. The two foreign pistols, four magazines, and eight rounds of ammunition were found wrapped in cloth. The firearms have been handed over to Katakhali Police Station for legal action.
BGB stated that ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, it is strengthening intelligence activities and maintaining strict surveillance in border areas. These efforts aim to ensure that illegal arms, ammunition, and explosive materials do not enter Bangladesh, thereby keeping the country’s law and order situation stable.
