DHAKA: Mohammed Humayun Kabir FCA, a prominent figure in the accounting world and a council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), has been appointed as the Vice President of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for the year 2025. This appointment precedes his expected succession to the role of President in 2026.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ashfaq Yousuf Tola, a former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, has been named the President of SAFA for 2025. Kabir’s appointment marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career, which spans over 43 years in various sectors, including public accounting, finance, and industry. His professional journey began in February 1981, and he has since held influential roles across multiple sectors.
Kabir’s contributions to the field have been recognized with several accolades, including the Poribesh Podok, an environment award, bestowed by the government in 2010. He has also been identified as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) for export by the Ministry of Commerce for eight consecutive years. His expertise extends to serving as a Facilitator of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) for the National Board of Revenue (NBR) since 2012. He is actively involved with the Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) as a Director, elected for the 2021-2023 term, and serves as a member of a panel of advisers for the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
