The first day's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations at 29 centres of Chattogram have been delayed by an hour on Sunday due to water logging caused by heavy rainfall.

Chittagong Education Board (CEB) Controller Narayan Chandra Nath said as per the education ministry's instruction, the first day's exam was delayed by an hour as the examinees were facing trouble reaching the centres due to water logging.

He said the exams started an hour later that is at 11am, instead of 10am, at 27 centres in the port city and two more centres at Hathazari under the CEB.

Narayan Chandra Nath said that the exams of all centres of the madrasa and technical education boards started on time.

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Chattogram Education Board have been deferred by 10 days to August 27 due to natural calamity.

A total of 102,468 examinees under CEB, 98,031 examinees under the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board and 152,717 examinees under Technical Education Board took part from Chattogram.
