Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Sufiya Akther Khanam, mother of former Chief Information Commissioner Martuza Ahmed.
In a message of condolence, the minister said Sufiya, who was also a highly educated and noble person, raised her nine children with high education and as good human beings.
Dr Hasan, also Awami League Joint General Secretary, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Sufiya died at a city hospital due to old-age complications last night.
Martuza said his mother will be buried at Darga Sharif after Namaz-e-Janaza at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) Mazar Mosque after Asr prayers today.
