Bangladesh Teachers Association (BTA) today held
a discussion titled 'Bangabandhu's Educational Philosophy' marking 48th
martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman and National Mourning Day.
Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzak addressed the discussion as the chief
guest while Former cabinet secretary Kabir Bin Anwar, DU Pro-Vice Chancellor
(Academic) Dr Mohammad Samad and Ekushey Padak-winning journalist and freedom
fighter Ajoy Dasgupta spoke as special guests.
BTA president Principal Bazlur Rahman presided over the discussion while BTA
general Secretary Principal Sheikh Kawser Ahmed delivered the key-note
speech, said a press release.
While addressing the discussion, the speakers said as Bangabandhu realized
the importance of education, he said in a radio and television on October 28,
1970, "There is no better investment than investing capital in education to
build a well-educated society."
Therefore, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
nationalized about 37,000 primary education institutions with the goal that
no child is deprived of education even in the post-independence war-torn
conditions, said the speakers.
Bangabandhu wanted to build a better social system by nationalizing all
levels of education including secondary education, they added.
