Dhaka: The High Court (HC) today removed from its cause list a writ petition challenging the National Sports Council’s (NSC) decision to dismiss Faruque Ahmed from his position as president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and appoint Aminul Islam Bulbul as his replacement.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a division bench of Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque and Justice Aynun Nahar Siddiqua declared the plea “out of list” during a session held this morning. The legal team for the writ included Senior Jurist Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal and Barrister Kaiser Kamal, while Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman represented the NSC. Barrister Nasir Uddin Ashim participated in the hearings on behalf of the BCB.

The National Sports Council had previously annulled Faruque Ahmed’s nomination as a BCB director on May 29, subsequently appointing Aminul Islam Bulbul to the position the following day. In response to these actions, Faruque Ahmed filed a writ with the High Court, contesting the NSC’s decisions.
