Gaibandha: A case has been filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former superintendent of police Kamal Hossain, additional police super Md. Ibrahim, and former officer-in-charge of Sadar Thana Masud Rana, on charges of attempting to murder a man during the anti-discrimination students’ movement in the district on August 4. The victim, Ohedur Rahman, from Kisamat Holdia village under Sundarganj upazila, who suffered bullet injuries on that date, lodged the case with the District and Sessions Judge Court on Monday afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the case involves ten named individuals, alongside 50-60 unidentified people. Ohedur, who was part of a procession organized by the anti-discrimination student movement on August 4, was reportedly shot during a police attack on protesters in front of the superintendent of police office. He sustained nine bullet wounds and was initially taken to Sadar Hospital, where he was attacked again during his treatment.

Ohedur later received med
ical treatment from a local doctor, Tazul Islam, who removed the bullets. The delay in filing the case was attributed to the time required for Ohedur to recover physically. Other prominent figures accused in the case include Abu Bakar Siddique, president of the district Awami League, its general secretary Mozammel Haque Mondal, district Jubo league president Sarder Sayeed Hasan Loton, its general secretary Shah Ahsan Habib Razib, and former president of district Chhatra league Asif Sarker, along with its former general secretary Mosaddek Mamun.

Following the case filing, the court has instructed the Police Bureau of Investigation to carry out a thorough investigation.
