Govt. utilizes science to attain SDGs

HAKA, Dec 28, 2016 (BSS) - Science and Technology Minister Architect

Yeafesh Osman today said the government is exerting sciences for attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encouraging scientific research for ensuring human welfare.

"With a view to ensuring rapid information flow to scientists and

researchers, Bangladesh National Scientific and Technical Documentation Centre (BANSDOC) will be equipped with modern technologies like other research institutions," he added.

The minister was addressing a seminar on "Research on Science and

Technology: BANSDOC Information Service" at BANSDOC at Agargaon in the city.

He also said with installation of online database and combined

information on scientific research, the BANSDOC will be modernized to make it accessible to the researchers.

Professor of Chemistry department of Rajshahi University Dr Md Tariqul Hasan presented keynote on the topic while Chairperson of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Science and Technology Dr AFM Ruhul Haque addressed the function as the special guest.

Presided over by the Secretary of Science and Technology Ministry Md Serajul Huq Khan, Director General of BANSDOC Jesmine Akhter, Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Dr Md Ziaur Rahman Khan and Senior Reprographic Officer of BANSDOC Md Moniruzzaman addressed the function, among others.
