Govt Urges Caution Against Use of Fireworks and Crackers for New Year Celebrations

Dhaka: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has issued a directive urging all to avoid the use of fireworks, lanterns, and crackers during New Year celebrations, which mark the beginning of the Gregorian calendar year. The ministry highlighted concerns about the negative impact of these activities, including air and noise pollution, as well as potential fires and harm to bird populations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive was issued at noon, ahead of the December 31 celebrations slated for tomorrow. The ministry emphasized the importance of adhering to these guidelines in order to safeguard the environment and public health. The statement encouraged a cordial compliance with these measures to mitigate the adverse effects associated with such celebratory practices.
