Dhaka: BNP leader Amanullah Aman today described the death of BNP Chairperson and three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia as an irreparable loss to the nation. He made these remarks in front of the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Aman emphasized Khaleda Zia’s role as an uncompromising leader, both nationally and internationally. He highlighted her stand against injustice and quoted her statement affirming that the people and soil of Bangladesh were her only home. Despite facing severe challenges, including persecution, false cases, long-term imprisonment, and alleged slow poisoning, she never left the country. Aman criticized the denial of proper medical treatment and the government’s ignoring of requests for advanced treatment abroad.
Aman further stated that her death has cast a shadow of grief across both the country and internationally. He expressed hope that the nation will recognize her contributions and prayed for her to be granted Jannatul Ferdous for her work for the country and its people. He also recalled the public’s outpouring of grief at the funeral of Martyred President Ziaur Rahman, noting the similar love and respect for Khaleda Zia.
He concluded by affirming that under the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the party will strive to complete her unfinished work and implement her ideals in collaboration with the people of the country.
