Dhaka: If the government’s usual activities are hindered, making it impossible to perform its responsibilities, it will take necessary decisions involving the country’s people, said the council of advisers today. “The interim government embodies the mass expectations of the July uprising,” stated a press release issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing following a meeting of the council of advisers.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the statement emphasized that if the government’s reform initiatives, judicial process, fair elections, and other usual activities are obstructed, making it difficult to fulfill its responsibilities, the government will engage the public in its decision-making process. An unscheduled meeting was convened by the Council of Advisers today, following the weekly Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, took place at the Planning Commission in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, the capital’s administrative area. The discussions centered around the three main responsibilities of the interim government and how they are being affected by various unreasonable demands, unauthorized statements, and programs that create public doubt and suspicion.

The council of advisers highlighted the need for a broader consensus to maintain national stability, advance electoral, judicial, and reform initiatives, and prevent the resurgence of dictatorship. The interim government plans to listen to political party statements and clarify its stance on these issues.

Despite facing numerous obstacles, the interim government continues to perform its duties, disregarding the interests of various groups. The statement further noted that if governmental responsibilities become unmanageable due to provocations by defeated forces or foreign conspiracies, the government will present all reasons to the public before making its next decision.
