Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) stated that the government has successfully implemented measures to make the Eid journey comfortable and unhindered this year. He made these remarks while addressing journalists during his visit to the Gantoli Bus Terminal.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser emphasized that the government’s people-friendly initiatives and their effective execution have facilitated a smooth travel experience for citizens during the Eid festivities. He reassured that efforts are being made to ensure that people can safely return to Dhaka after the celebrations.
The Home Adviser highlighted the comprehensive security measures in place across the capital and the rest of the country. He acknowledged the contributions of the security forces, including the police, armed forces, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Ansar, and Coast Guard, in maintaining law and order. Despite the festive period, these forces are actively working without taking vacations to ensure public safety.
Furthermore, the Home Adviser detailed steps taken to prevent criminal activities such as theft, robbery, and snatching in the capital. Addressing concerns about potential threats in an empty Dhaka, he confidently dismissed any notion of conspiracy, attributing this to a lack of credible threats and expressing readiness to counter any that may arise with public support.
During his inspection, the adviser instructed the Traffic Department to manage bus terminals and city entry and exit points to avoid traffic congestion. He also directed law enforcement agencies to respond swiftly to complaints about passengers being overcharged on fares, ensuring adherence to the fixed rates.
