Government Simplifies Passport Application Process

Dhaka: The government has announced a simplification in the process of obtaining passports. ‘To improve the quality of security services, the provision of obtaining a police report for issuing a passport has been relaxed,’ stated Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed during his budget speech.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Ahmed unveiled a national budget totaling TK 7,90,000 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26. In his address, he highlighted the introduction of e-passports in 59 missions abroad. Additionally, he mentioned that efforts are underway to implement e-passports, e-visas, and e-travel permits across all Bangladeshi missions globally.



Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed emphasized that ‘e-gates with sophisticated technology have been set up at various check posts to introduce an automated immigration system.’ These advancements are part of the government’s broader initiative to streamline and modernize the passport and immigration processes in the country.
