Four Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Sirajganj Murder Case

Sirajganj: A court here today sentenced four people to life term imprisonment in the sensational Ashraf Ali murder case in Sadar upazila in 2024. District and Sessions Judge Md. Iqbal Hossain delivered the verdict this afternoon in presence of the convicts, said Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court Advocate Shakil Haider Rafiq Sarkar.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court also fined the convicts Taka 10,000 each. The convicts are Md. Abdul Alim and Abu Bakkar, sons of late Joseph Uddin of Chadpal village under Bahuli union in Sadar upazila and Md. Mozam Ali and Abdur Rouf, sons of A. Khalek of the area.



On September 8, 2014, due to a dispute over previous enmity and the construction of a road in the village, the accused hacked and beat Md. Ashraf Ali of Chadpal village in Bahuli union of Sadar upazila. Ashraf was rescued and taken to a private clinic in Sirajganj. When his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Dhaka for better treatment. Ashraf Ali died there on September 16 while undergoing treatment.



In this incident, the deceased’s wife Sufia Khatun filed a case with Sadar Police Station naming six people and five to six unknown people as accused. After a long investigation, testimony and hearing in the case, the judge delivered this verdict today.
