Chapainawabganj: Four young men were killed in two separate road accidents in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman, 20, son of Sadiqul Islam, and Abul Hayat, 35, son of Zamir Uddin, both from Baliadighi village. The other victims were Asad, 19, son of Erfan Ali, and Jaber Ali, 19, son of Zafar Ali, from the Shekhtola area of the upazila.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the accidents took place on the Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway in the Muslimpur and Kansat areas. Asad and Jaber were involved in a fatal incident when a truck collided with their motorcycle in the Kansat area around 1:15 pm. Asad died instantly, while Jaber, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex by locals, where he was declared dead by doctors.
Earlier in the day, around 5:15 am, Habibur Rahman and Abul Hayat lost their lives when their motorcycle went out of control and plunged beneath an under-construction culvert in the Muslimpur area. Sub-Inspector Khokon Chandra of Shibganj Police Station reported that they were on their way back home to Baliadighi from Kansat when the accident occurred. Passersby and local residents attempted to rescue the men and transported them to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, but they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
