Dhaka: Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, nominated by the ruling BNP as its presidential candidate, has announced his commitment to serve the people even after assuming the presidency. “I never thought that I would become the President. It is the infinite grace of the party and Almighty Allah. Even after becoming president, I wish to remain beside the people and serve them,” Fakhrul stated during a meeting with the Thakurgaon Journalist Forum, Dhaka, at his official residence on Hare Road.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mirza Fakhrul, who also holds the position of Secretary General of BNP, emphasized that despite the responsibilities that come with the presidency, he intends to prioritize the development of his area and remain accessible to the public. He expressed his determination to balance his duties while continuing to support and engage with the community.
The meeting saw members of the Thakurgaon Journalists Forum, Dhaka, offering their congratulations to Fakhrul on his presidential nomination. Fakhrul, visibly moved by the occasion, conveyed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for the nomination and took time to personally interact with each journalist present, providing them with various suggestions and discussing their well-being.
Present at the meeting were forum leaders, including President Manik Muntasir of Bangladesh Pratidin, General Secretary Delwar Hossain of Samakal, and several other notable media representatives. The gathering also included advisers such as senior journalist Mashiur Rahman and Tuhin Saifullah of Prothom Alo, highlighting the significance of the occasion within journalistic circles.
