Four Fatalities and Multiple Injuries in Kushtia Road Collision

Kushtia: At least four people, including a woman, were killed and 23 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Khoksa upazila of the district today. The tragic event unfolded around noon in the Shialdangi area on the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Highway Police Station Abu Obayed reported that a bus belonging to Tanha Paribahan collided with a sand-laden truck near the Shialdangi Mosque area. The impact caused the bus to lose control and overturn into a roadside ditch.



The immediate aftermath saw two passengers losing their lives on the spot, another passenger passed away en route to the hospital, and a fourth victim succumbed to injuries during medical treatment. Local residents initiated rescue efforts immediately following the crash, with the Fire Service and police personnel arriving shortly thereafter to assist and transport the injured to various hospitals.



Dr. Md. Ariful Haque, Khoksa Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, confirmed that many of the injured were receiving treatment at the local hospital. He also noted that four critically injured passengers were referred to the 250-bed Kushtia General Hospital for advanced care.



Law enforcement authorities are in the process of identifying the deceased and are conducting an investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident.
