DHAKA, Jan 4, 2017 (BSS) - Mostafa Faruque Mohammad, former Information and Communication Technology (ICT) minister, died at a city hospital here tonight. He was 74.
Mostafa Faruque, also a former ambassador, is survived by wife and two daughters to mourn his death.
He was born at Krishnanagar village under Jhikargachha upazila in Jessore district on March 21, 1942.
Faruque served in various capacities at Bangladesh embassies in India, Myanmar, Egypt, Vietnam and Russia. He was also Bangladesh's alternative representative to the UN Security Council in 1979.
In 2008, he was elected as the lawmaker from Jessore-2 (Jhikargachha-Chowgachha) constituency. On September 13, 2012, he was appointed as the minister of Bangladesh government.
Sheikh Afiluddin, MP, Advocate Manirul Islam, MP, and Jessore district Awami League president Shahidul Islam Milon in separate messages condoled the death of Mostafa Faruque Mohammad.
They conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
