Jamaica: Bangladesh roared back in style as fast bowler Nahid Rana tore apart West Indies in a stunning bowling spell to leave hosts reeling to 135-8 at lunch on Day 3 of the second and final cricket Test at Sabina Park today. Rana, who clocked speeds of 150 kph regularly, left the West Indies batters dismayed, ending the session with figures of 4-57. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rana's sensational effort left the hosts jaded and out-of-sorts, causing them to lose seven wickets for just 65 runs in the morning session after resuming the day at 70-1. West Indies are still trailing by 29 runs, making a first-innings lead improbable. While Nahid Rana was fast and furious, troubling the batters with extreme pace, Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud, the other two pacers, complemented him with accurate bowling. Hasan had figures of 2-19 going into lunch, while Taskin finished with 1-20. The trio's sensational effort overshadowed the poor batting performance that saw Bangladesh being bowled out for 164 in t he first innings. With captain Kraigg Brathwaite at the crease, West Indies looked set for a lead, but Rana unsettled him with raw pace, which awkwardly rose and forced the captain to fend towards gully. Brathwaite added just 10 runs to his overnight total before being dismissed for 39. Another overnight batter, Keacy Carty, showed composure as Rana continued to run riot. Kevam Hodge poked a short-pitched delivery from Rana, resulting in Liton taking a stunning one-hand catch to add more misery to the West Indies. Taskin Ahmed then joined the party by removing Alick Athanaze, rattling his stumps, while left-arm spinner Taijul Islam dismissed Justin Greaves, who had hit a century in the previous Test. Hasan Mahmud trapped Joshua Da Silva leg-before and ended Carty's resistance with a thin inside edge. Carty managed a team-best 40 off 115 balls with just one boundary. Rana fittingly ended the session by taking the wicket of Alzzari Joseph, as Bangladesh sniffed a lead that seemed improbable earlier. Brathwa ite, Mikyle Luois, and Keacy Carty were the only three batters to reach double digits so far. Kemar Roach and Shamar Joseph were batting on 6 and 5 runs, respectively, when lunch was taken.
