Paturia: Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes across the Padma River resumed this morning after being suspended for several hours due to dense fog that severely reduced visibility, officials of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) said.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abdus Salam stated that ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia route was halted at 7:15 pm on Friday as dense fog blanketed the river, making navigation risky. During the suspension, six ferries remained stranded at Paturia Ghat without carrying vehicles or passengers, while three ferries were anchored in the middle of the Padma River.

After the fog eased, ferry operations on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed at 9:40 am today after about 14 hours and 25 minutes. “All ferries are now plying normally with full load,” Abdus Salam added. Movement of all engine-driven boats and launches was also suspended during this period due to poor visibility.

Meanwhile, BIWTC Aricha Ghat Manager Md Abdullah reported that ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route were suspended from 8:20 pm on Friday due to dense fog. Ferry movement on this route resumed at 10:00 am today after approximately 13 hours and 40 minutes, with all ferries now operating normally with full load.
