Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today emphasized the necessity of strong unity among political parties to fulfill the aspirations of a democratic Bangladesh. He highlighted the challenges faced by the nation despite having a fascism-free environment, pointing out the lack of a clear path to democracy. The democratic aspirations, he noted, have emerged from the struggles over the past 15 years and events like the July-August uprising.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul underscored the importance of political unity while addressing an iftar-mahfil organized by BNP at the Ladies Club on Eskaton Road in the capital. The event was held in honor of various political parties and prominent figures. Initially, Fakhrul extended Ramadan greetings to all attendees on behalf of BNP.
Fakhrul mentioned that reform proposals across different sectors have been shared with political parties. He urged these parties to thoroughly review the proposals and provide feedback to ensure progress with collective efforts. He stressed the resolution of all issues based on consensus among all the political entities.
The BNP secretary general expressed hope that if the BNP is elected to power, it will establish a national government and implement the 31-Point outline for Structural Reforms in Bangladesh. The event was attended by notable figures such as Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Taher, National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, Jatiya Party faction chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, and Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, among others.
