DHAKA - The namaz-e-janaza of former lawmaker and freedom fighter Abdul Matin was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad here today.
Before the janaza, the late freedom fighter was given a guard of honour on behalf of Dhaka district administration.
Matin, was elected parliament member from Tangail-2 in the 4th parliament.
He breathed his last on Friday morning at his resident in the city at the age of 71, according to a statement issued by the Jatiya Sangsad.
Matin left behind his wife, two sons and one daughter along with a host of relatives to mourn his death.
M Reazul Karim Hira, MP, M Abdur Razzak, MP, Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP, and other political leaders and workers attended the janaza, among others.
Later, the sergeant at arms on behalf of Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, chief whip ASM Feroz, and lawmaker Nurul Islam Omar on behalf of leader of the opposition and ASM Abdur Rob of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), among others, placed wreaths at the coffin.
