DHAKA: A Dhaka court has placed former home minister Hasanul Haque Inu on a four-day remand in connection with the murder of Bahadur Hossain Monir, which occurred during the student-led mass uprising in July and August. The decision was made by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sharifur Rahman after police requested a 10-day remand to further investigate the case.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident took place on July 19 when Monir was shot in the Pragati Smarani area of Dhaka. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel. The case was filed by Monir’s father, Md Abu Jafar, on September 30 at the Gulshan Police Station. The complaint names 105 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, as suspects in the case.

Inu was apprehended on August 26 from a residence in the capital’s Uttara area. The former minister’s involvement in the high-profile case has drawn significant attention, adding to the complexity of the ongoing investigation into the events surrounding the mass uprising and Monir’s death.
