Entire country is safe due to police: Kamal

DHAKA, February 3, 2017 (BSS)- Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal yesterday said that the whole country, including the capital Dhaka, is now almost safe due to the effectiveness of the police force.

"The government has been trying to enhance the capability of the force despite its resource constraints," he said while inaugurating the 42nd raising of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at Rajarbagh Police Lines Ground here.

The Home Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina promised to change the country through development and the police have become the real friends of the people as per the commitment of the prime minister.

"The entire country may be saved if we keep the capital safe," Kamal said, adding that the DMP has been discharging their duties to achieve this goal.

The programme was also addressed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque and DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah. Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out from DMP headquarters and it winded up at Rajarbagh Police Lines Ground.

A cultural function was also held followed by fireworks at the ground.
