Election Commissioner Assures Free Voting in Upcoming Elections

Dinajpur: Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah has assured that citizens will have the opportunity to vote freely for their preferred candidates in the upcoming elections, as the Election Commission is committed to restoring its credibility. Addressing a gathering at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Dinajpur, Sanaullah emphasized the importance of rebuilding public trust and rectifying the image damaged by previous flawed elections.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Commissioner Sanaullah highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections as a chance to regain lost trust. He acknowledged the challenges faced in organizing elections but emphasized the presence of more opportunities than obstacles. He noted the ongoing struggle of political parties to restore democracy and conduct free, fair, and neutral elections, and praised the youth for their advocacy of citizens’ rights during the recent movements in July and August.



Sanaullah urged everyone to remain vigilant and conscientious regarding the forthcoming general elections. He assured that efforts would be made to ensure the presence of candidate agents at polling centers to facilitate a credible election process. He expressed confidence in the entire electoral process, from voter registration to the announcement of results, and stressed the importance of transparency and accountability within the Election Commission.



The meeting, chaired by District Election Officer Md Kamrul Islam, was also attended by Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, among others. Sanaullah concluded by stating the necessity of a strong, transparent, and honest Election Commission to uphold integrity across the electoral system.
