Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin announced today that the Election Commission (EC) is dedicated to organizing a free, fair, and credible election. He made this statement while addressing a dialogue with civil society representatives at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon, in preparation for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CEC highlighted the significant progress already made to ensure smooth election conduct. “Voter lists have been updated by visiting households, deceased voters have been removed, and adjustments have been made to the gender ratio among voters,” he stated. Furthermore, he noted that nine legal amendments are being processed to enhance the election’s transparency and efficiency.
The CEC emphasized that most preparations for a free and fair election are complete, with many important proposals emerging from reform commission discussions. Additionally, the CEC noted that this election will allow returning officers residing in the country to vote, along with polling officers, government officials, employees, and those under legal custody. Election commissioners, the EC Senior Secretary, and other senior officials attended the dialogue.
