Adequate security arrangements have been implemented in all 254 Puja Mandaps within the Dhaka metropolitan area, the Commissioner stated during his visit to Dhakeshwari National Temple in old Dhaka.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Police Headquarters reported the deployment of 71,066 police personnel at the Puja Mandaps to guarantee comprehensive security. The Sharadiya Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for the Hindu community, commenced today nationwide with festivities at approximately 33,350 Mandaps.

During a press interaction, the DMP Commissioner assured that there are no specific threats in the Dhaka metropolitan area during Durga Puja. He elaborated that archways and Close Circuit Cameras (CCTVs) have been installed at every Puja Mandap to enhance security measures. The police will maintain constant vigilance to address any potential incidents during the celebration. A distinct security plan is in place for the ‘Bisarjan Shobhajatra’ on Vijaya Dashami, scheduled to start from Dhakeshwari National Temple and conclude at Wise Ghat. Additional police forces will be deployed to ensure the smooth progression of this procession. The Commissioner reiterated that there is no security risk for this year’s Puja, and any attempts to disrupt law and order will be jointly countered.

The Commissioner expressed optimism that this year’s Sharadiya Durga Puja will be celebrated with greater enthusiasm compared to previous years. During his visit, the Commissioner exchanged greetings with leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjawan Parishad, Metropolitan Sarbojanin Puja Committee, and Temple Management Committee.
