Khulna: The main jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr is set to be held at 8:00 AM at the circuit house Eidgah in Khulna city. In case of unfavorable weather conditions, the primary congregation will be moved to Khulna Town Jame Mosque at the same time. Additional jamaats are scheduled at the mosque for 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release from the Press Information Department (PID) of Khulna regional offices announced that the Khulna District Administration has outlined an elaborate program to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. Khulna City Corporation and ward officials will organize separate Eid congregations in each ward under their management. The national flag will be displayed on all government, semi-government, private, and autonomous buildings, and lowered before sunset on Eid day.
The city will see main roads, important squares, road islands, and the Circuit House grounds adorned with national flags and banners bearing “Eid Mubarak” in Bengali and Arabic. Enhanced meals will be provided at hospitals, prisons, children’s homes, and various welfare centers. The Islamic Foundation will host seminars and discussions to emphasize Eid-ul-Fitr’s significance.
The District Sports Association will organize a friendly football match, while the District Children’s Academy will host a children’s fair for underprivileged kids to mark the occasion. Law enforcement agencies will implement security measures throughout Khulna to ensure law and order during Eid.
Prohibited activities include fireworks, setting up stalls on roads, playing loudspeakers or drums at high volumes, splashing colored water, and reckless motorcycle riding. Authorities will take legal action against eve-teasers and miscreants. To prevent crimes by unconsciousness-inducing gangs, pickpockets, and snatchers, plainclothes police will be stationed at transport hubs, and mobile courts will operate.
Efforts will also be made to curb the circulation of counterfeit currency. Bangladesh Betar Khulna Center will air special programs, and local newspapers will publish special editions for Eid. Similar observances will take place at the upazila level. Eid-ul-Fitr, the most significant religious festival for Muslims, is expected to fall on March 31 or April 1, contingent on the moon sighting.
