ECNEC Sanctions Nine Projects Valued at Taka 11,851.29 Crore

Dhaka: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today sanctioned nine projects totaling an estimated cost of Taka 11,851.29 crore. The decision emerged from the 11th ECNEC meeting of the fiscal year 2025, chaired by ECNEC Chairperson and Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the NEC Conference Room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting approved six new projects alongside three revised ones. The funding breakdown includes Taka 8,046.09 crore from the government of Bangladesh, Taka 2,988.95 crore in project assistance, and Taka 816.25 crore from the concerned organizations’ funds, as stated in a Planning Ministry press release.



The sanctioned projects encompass various sectors, including education, power, infrastructure, and local economic development. Notable projects include the construction of academic buildings for eight government polytechnic institutes at Taka 451.07 crore, capacity enhancement of 15 government polytechnic institutes at Taka 1,513.95 crore, and the mosque-based children and mass education programme aimed at improving ethics and values at a cost of Taka 4,645.58 crore.



Other projects include the Recovery and Advancement of Informal Sector Employment (RAISE) with an additional cost of Taka 91 crore, and the Power Transmission Strengthening and Integration of Renewable Energy project at Taka 4,131.42 crore. The Urban Climate Resilient Infrastructure Project (UCRIP) and the PRABRIDDHI project also received attention, with allocated costs of Taka 590.42 crore and Taka 72.60 crore, respectively.



The meeting also discussed four previously approved projects by the Planning Adviser. Attendees included relevant advisers, Planning Commission members, and secretaries.
