The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today approved 10 new and revised projects, including the One House One Farm project, involving a total of Tk 9,443.64 crore.
The approval was given in the ECNEC meeting held at the cabinet room of the Prime Minister's Office with ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the One House One Farm (3rd revised) project has been taken at a cost of Tk 8010.27 crore as the elimination of poverty is one of the main targets of the government.
Income generating units in the agriculture sector will be constituted under the project to be funded entirely by the government, he said.
There will be 60 members from extreme poor and bagger families in each unit and the capital of each unit will be constituted with the weekly savings of beneficiaries and the government will contribute the equal amount.
The project will be implemented in 40,950 wards of 4,550 unions under 490 upazilas of the country's 64 districts, the planning minister added.
"The prime minister has emphasized on inclusion of the people living under the poverty line in the main stream of the economic for bringing more dynamism in the economy," Kamal said.
Other approved projects Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University Strengthening Project (Tk 345.77cr), BAFA Bangabandhu Complex Construction, Jessore-1st revised Project (Tk 271.15cr), Cancer Centre Constriction Project of Dhaka CMH (Tk 98.06cr),
project to complete the remaining part of the construction work of the bridge of Gobindaganj-Doara Bazar road on the Surma river (Tk 112.99cr), Establishment of Jamalpur Palli Unnayan Academy Project (Tk 124.50cr), establishment of fish landing centre at four places in the country's three coastal districts (1st revised) project (59.70cr,
Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga-Khulna national highway adjacent to the Haji Shariatullah bridge to protect the erosion of Arial Khan river (Tk54.59cr), Rajoir-Kotalipara flood control, sewerage and irrigation project (Tk 95.42cr).
Ministers and state ministers attended the meeting while planning commission's members and secretaries concerned were present.
