It's the demand of time to hold the DUCSU poll as future leadership creates from the university. A congenial atmosphere is now prevailing on the campus towards holding the long awaited election as any student organization can arrange meeting and express their opinion freely, Sonjit told the national news agency.

The left leaning student organizations, however, demanded to take steps to ensure democratic environment at the university and make the Paribesh Parishad effective.

Bangladesh Chhatra Union's DU unit president Foyez Ullah welcomed the university authority's move about the DUCSU poll.

Umme Habiba Benojir, president of DU unit of Bangladesh Chhatra Union, said that they will discuss about obstacles of the students' freedom of expression on the campus. The hall administrations have to play effective role to create a level playing field for free and fair election, she added.

On January 17, the High Court asked the DU authorities to hold the DUCSU election at a suitable time, preferably within six months.
