Dhaka:Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan announced that eviction drives aimed at clearing roads and footpaths of illegal encroachments will continue across the corporation's jurisdiction.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the administrator emphasized that the operations are crucial for ensuring the smooth movement of pedestrians and will be executed in phases citywide against illegal occupiers.
The statement was made during an eviction drive in Mirpur Section-1, which took place in two phases this morning and afternoon. This special initiative was launched in response to longstanding demands from residents of Mirpur, Shah Ali, Darus Salam, and neighboring areas.
During the operation, Shafiqul Islam Khan highlighted that some hawkers and occupiers have been conducting business illegally on roads and footpaths, thus restricting the free movement of ordinary citizens. He further noted that local residents and leaders from various market committees have consistently complained about these encroachments.
