Dhaka:Medical tests for workers planning to go to Malaysia for employment will commence on October 31 at authorized medical centers, as announced by the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the ministry has specified that no medical tests will be conducted before the set date, and any tests performed prior to October 31 will not be accepted for immigration clearance. This was detailed in a press release signed by the ministry's public relations officer, Shariful Islam.

The ministry will soon publish the list of authorized medical centers on its website, and workers are advised to monitor this list, which may change based on compliance and capacity. It is emphasized that no medical center or recruiting agency is permitted to conduct or organize medical tests without explicit approval from the ministry.

The ministry has also received reports of unauthorized brokers and agencies attempting to collect passports and money from workers under false pretenses. Workers are strongly advised against engaging with such offers or handing over their documents without verifying authorization.

Recruiting agencies seeking clearance from the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) must submit relevant documents along with VDR visa papers for medical tests at the sanctioned centers. The ministry has warned that any medical centers or recruiting agencies found violating these instructions will face legal action, potentially including the suspension of operations and cancellation of their approvals.

Workers are encouraged to report any unauthorized activities to the ministry, providing detailed information and evidence of the incidents. The ministry assures continued monitoring to safeguard workers' welfare and urges compliance with government directives from all involved parties.
