Dhaka: The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken action against 1,513 motor vehicles for traffic rule violations across the capital in a single day.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a media release from the DMP indicated that these cases were filed and fines collected on Monday (April 23) as part of their routine operations aimed at addressing traffic violations. Among the actions taken, 374 motor vehicles were dumped, and 148 vehicles were towed due to substandard driving practices, as stated by Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of the DMP.
The release further detailed the distribution of cases across various traffic divisions in the city. Motijheel Traffic Division filed 218 cases, Wari Division registered 293 cases, Tejgaon Division filed 167 cases, Mirpur Division accounted for 221 cases, Gulshan Division filed 318 cases, Uttara Division registered 203 cases, Ramna Division filed 76 cases, and Lalbagh Division accounted for 86 cases. These cases were filed against motor vehicles, three-wheelers, and motorcycles.
The DMP emphasized that these enforcement drives will continue in order to maintain order on the city streets. The ongoing efforts are aimed at improving the traffic system in the capital to facilitate easier movement for city residents.
