Dinajpur: The district administration of Dinajpur has meticulously planned a series of events to commemorate 'Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day, 2026' with appropriate reverence.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the observance will commence with the laying of wreaths at Dinajpur Central Shaheed Minar at precisely 12:01 am on February 21. The national flag will be lowered to half-mast across all government, semi-government, private, autonomous institutions, and private buildings at sunrise as a mark of respect.
Mobile films aligned with national programs will be showcased at various locations, including the prominent intersections and the premises of the Dinajpur Central Shaheed Minar. At 11:00 am, a discussion meeting, cultural program, and prize distribution ceremony will take place at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy auditorium in Dinajpur town.
Special prayers are scheduled in all mosques, temples, churches, and other places of worship to seek forgiveness for the martyrs of the language movement and the 2024 mass uprising. These prayers will be conducted at convenient times throughout the day.
From February 1 to February 21, 2026, children in Dinajpur will participate in drawing competitions, rhyme readings, poetry readings, and cultural events at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy and District Shilpakala Academy. Additionally, an essay and drawing competition, along with a discussion on the language movement, will be organized at the Dinajpur District Government Public Library.
