DHAKA: A Dhaka court has rejected the bail plea of former Habiganj-4 lawmaker Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman in connection with three separate cases involving murder and attempted murder during the July-August student-led mass uprising. The decision was handed down by Judge Shihabul Islam of the Dhaka 8th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court following a hearing on the bail applications.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Suman was apprehended by police on October 21 in the Mirpur-6 area of the capital and subsequently shown as arrested in the cases. The charges against him are serious, with one case involving an attempted murder of a restaurant chef, Hridoy Miah, in Mirpur-10 on July 19. Another case pertains to an attempted murder of an individual named Adam Bin Amin, occurring on the same day and in the same vicinity.

Additionally, Suman faces charges related to the murder of Mizanur Rahman, whose father, Md Kamal Hossain, filed the case on September 2 with Khilgaon Police Station. Rahman was killed on July 19. The court’s refusal to grant bail keeps Suman in custody as the legal proceedings continue to unfold in these high-profile cases.
