Dhaka: A court here today ordered the freezing of 56 bank accounts of former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque, his wife Ila Haque, and their son Ziaul Haque over graft allegations. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, of the accounts, 39 are in the name of Ruhal, two in Ila’s name, and 15 in their son Ziaul Haque’s name. The ACC in its plea stated that Ruhal Haque made suspicious transactions involving a significant amount of money through these bank accounts. The plea further mentioned that the accused were attempting to transfer, hand over, or mortgage the funds, leading to the urgent request for the accounts to be frozen.
