Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged vigilance among the public, asserting that a conspiracy is underway to deprive people of their voting rights. He made these remarks during a discussion organized by BNP’s city unit at Beraida Eidgah ground in Badda, Dhaka.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul emphasized that conspiracies are being orchestrated both domestically and internationally, targeting the voting rights of the populace. He assured that BNP will not allow such actions to succeed, stressing the importance of establishing a government that represents the people by countering these plots.

Fakhrul mentioned that the BNP is currently refraining from street protests, choosing instead to engage with the public through the distribution of Eid and Iftar items. He highlighted the party’s commitment to standing by the people in their times of joy and distress.

He further warned that should any obstacles arise against national interests, BNP will mobilize again. The public, he noted, is well-versed in advocating for their demands through street protests.

Addressing the source of these conspiracies, Fakhrul claimed they originate from various international locations, including the United States and France, aimed at sowing division among the people. He asserted that BNP’s political stance is aligned with the interests of Bangladesh, as reiterated by the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Fakhrul criticized the current administration, alleging that under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership, numerous BNP leaders and activists were unjustly imprisoned, killed, or abducted. He cited the filing of false cases against millions as unprecedented in democratic history. Despite this adversity, Fakhrul expressed gratitude for overcoming such challenges and emphasized BNP’s renewed commitment to a free political environment.

The event was organized on the occasion of distributing Eid gifts to low-income individuals, with several BNP leaders, including City North BNP Convener Aminul Haque, BNP Minority Affairs Secretary MA Qayyum, and others in attendance.
