Consecutive Rains Boost Agricultural Prospects in Rajshahi

Rajshahi: Two consecutive rains during the last couple of days have benefited the standing crops and vegetables in the region, including its vast Barind tract.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the local meteorological office reported that the rains began at 12 noon on Friday and continued until almost 5 p.m. Earlier on Wednesday, the city dwellers and the adjacent people experienced significant rainfall.



Umme Salma, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension, noted that Boro rice, jute, mango, litchi, and other fruits and vegetables benefited from the rainfall. She highlighted that the consecutive rains were advantageous for the crops, fruits, and vegetables.



Speaking to BSS, Tareque Aziz, an observer at the meteorological office, shared that they recorded 31.8 millimeters of rainfall on Friday. Earlier on Wednesday, they recorded 84 millimeters of rainfall, the highest of the season, with rain starting at 8.40 pm and continuing until 11.30 pm.



Abdul Jalil, a farmer in Tanore upazila, expressed that the rainfall was significantly beneficial. He noted that farmers preparing their lands for aush paddy cultivation greatly benefited from the timely rains.
