Dhaka:Six teams in Bangladesh's new D3 Trophy have chosen their coaching staff through a draft held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. This selection follows the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) recent announcement of the tournament.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the draft allowed each team to select a head coach, two assistant coaches, a physiotherapist, a strength and conditioning coach, and an analyst from a list of 35 coaches. The head coaches chosen include Sohel Islam for Ace Bluestar, Rajin Saleh for Acme, Mizanur Rahman for Citizens Bank, Mohammad Salahuddin for Fortune Group, Talha Zubair for Seven Rings Cement, and Abdur Razzak for Walton Group.
The D3 Trophy, officially known as the Domestic Three Trophy, represents a new structure in Bangladesh's domestic cricket calendar. It integrates the three cricket formats into a single tournament, starting with the T20 competition on December 15, followed by a four-day format in January and a one-day competition in May.
The BCB has granted six institutions the rights to operate these teams for three years, with each institution paying 250 million taka annually. National team coaches, including batting coach Mohammad Ashraful and bowling coach Talha Zubair, will also participate in the D3 Trophy when national team duties allow.
In addition, the selected assistant coaches include Humayun Kabir and Hannan Sarkar for Seven Rings Cement; Faisal Hossain and Tarek Aziz for Acme; Dollar Mahmud and Tushar Imran for Walton; Abdul Qayyum and Mohammad Ashraful for Fortune Group; Mohammad Selim and Najmul Hossain for Citizens Bank; and Ashikur Rahman and Salauddin Ahmed for Ace Bluestar. Teams have the option to appoint other unselected coaches if needed.
