Jhenaidah: A three-day cleanliness drive commenced today in the Nabaganga River, located in the district, with the objective of preserving environmental balance and revitalizing the river.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Al Masud inaugurated the initiative at 9:30 am at Castle Bridge in the district town. The event witnessed attendance from several notable figures, including Deputy Director of the Local Government Department Rathindranath Roy, Executive Engineer of Jhenaidah Water Development Board Ranjan Kumar Das, Assistant District Magistrate (ICT) Nirmal Kanti Talukder, Assistant Magistrate Rima Islam, Assistant Director of the District Environment Department Muntasir Rahman, President of Jhenaidah Press Club Asif Iqbal Makhon, and General Secretary Aminul Islam Liton.
The Nabaganga River cleaning campaign is set to continue until Wednesday. During the inauguration, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Al Masud emphasized the importance of the river’s survival for maintaining the balance of nature and the environment. He stated that the campaign marks the beginning of efforts to make the Nabaganga River pollution-free.
Furthermore, Abdullah Al Masud mentioned that similar cleanliness drives are planned for other rivers in the district. He also indicated that there are ongoing efforts to remove illegal structures built along both banks of the river.
