State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki today called upon the journalist to raise their voices against the child marriage, repression on women and children through their writings.
"Journalists can play an important role to make the people conscious against violence on women and children, child marriage and others social curses," she said.
The state minister was addressing as the chief guest at a certificate distribution ceremony after the completion of a three-day training programme on print and electronic media journalists in Kaliganj upazila here.
Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and Gazipur Union of Journalists (GUJ) jointly hosted the training programme while PIB Director General Md Shah Alamgir chaired the function.
Kaliganj upazila parishad chairman Md Moazzem Hossain Polash, upzila nirbahi officer Khandakar Mu. Mushfiqur Rahman and GUJ president Md Ataur Rahman addressed it special guests.
Chumki also urged the journalists to play role in strengthening the campaign against the abuse of drugs.
Some 40 journalists from print and electronic media participated in the three-day training programme.
