Chittagong: Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Advisor Supradip Chakma today sought the Australian government’s support for the development of Bangladesh. He sought the support when a 3-member delegation led by the acting High Commissioner of Australia to Bangladesh, Nardia Simpson, paid a courtesy call on him at his Bangladesh Secretariat office here.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, Chakma expressed gratitude to the Australian government for its support in different development initiatives, hoping that Australia would continue to stand beside Bangladesh in the future. He informed the delegation about various reform programs undertaken by the incumbent government to ensure development in the CHT region, a notable tourist destination in Bangladesh.
The CHT ministry and other related organizations are working to promote peace, harmony, and progress for the people living in the CHT region, including various linguistic groups. Chakma explained that the interim government aims to create a
society free from discrimination and is working to ensure that every citizen can live together with equality.
The delegation expressed a positive attitude towards the reform program undertaken by the interim government. They also discussed the Australian Government’s various scholarships in higher education with the adviser.
Chakma thanked the delegation and highlighted the Australian government’s positive steps to improve the quality of primary education in the country. The delegation members include First Secretary (Development) Syed Sajjad Haider and First Secretary (Political) Lara Adams. CHT Ministry Additional Secretary Md Jahangir Alam was also present at the meeting.
