Dhaka: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today paid a courtesy call on Water Resources Minister Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, MP, at the minister’s office at the Parliament Secretariat (Jatiya Sangsad). State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad, MP, was also present at the meeting, said a press release here this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting emphasized the longstanding and friendly relations between Bangladesh and China. The Water Resources Minister warmly welcomed the Chinese envoy, highlighting the historical ties and shared interests between the two nations.
Minister Anee shared that he had previously exchanged greetings with Ambassador Yao Wen following an invitation, indicating a mutual interest in strengthening bilateral relations. During the discussions, Ambassador Yao Wen expressed China’s eagerness to collaborate with Bangladesh in maintaining the balance of water resources and protecting the environment, underscoring the importance of sustainable development in the region.
The meeting commenced with Ambassador Yao Wen presenting Minister Anee with a bouquet of flowers, symbolizing goodwill and the potential for future cooperation between the two countries.
