One More Child Succumbs to Measles in Bangladesh

Dhaka: One more child died of measles in the country in the last 24 hours. The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control centre today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the report highlighted that 1,236 new suspected measles cases were identified across the country in the past 24 hours, with 224 of these cases being laboratory confirmed. The period between March 15 and April 7 saw a total of 1,398 confirmed measles cases, alongside 9,883 suspected infections. During this time frame, 21 children died from confirmed measles, while 128 deaths were recorded among suspected cases.



Dhaka Division reported the highest number of suspected infections, with 4,160 people affected. Of these, 846 cases have been confirmed as measles. The total number of recoveries during this period stood at 6,883.



The DGHS stated it is closely monitoring the situation and is regularly collecting and analysing data through its Integrated Control Centre. In addition to providing necessary treatment for patients, the health authority has urged the public to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to prevent further spread of the disease.
