Chief Adviser Yunus Embarks on Four-Day Official Visit to China

Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to depart for China tomorrow on a four-day official visit, marking a significant diplomatic engagement. “A special flight carrying the Chief Adviser and entourage will depart Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at about 1 pm tomorrow,” Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad told BSS.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Yunus will address the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference on March 27, focusing on the evolving role of Asia in the global landscape. On the sidelines, he is expected to engage with CEOs from leading global and Chinese firms, furthering economic and business dialogues.



A highlight of the visit will be the first bilateral meeting between Prof Yunus and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on March 28, where discussions will center on issues of mutual interest and cooperation between the two nations.



In addition to political and economic discussions, Prof Yunus is scheduled to deliver a lecture at Peking University, where he will be honored with an honorary doctorate degree. His itinerary also includes visiting Chinese hi-tech parks, showcasing interest in technological advancements.



Furthermore, Prof Yunus aims to foster healthcare collaborations by holding talks with Chinese hospital chains. These discussions are intended to explore the potential for joint venture initiatives to establish hospitals in Bangladesh.



Prof Yunus is expected to conclude his visit and return to Bangladesh on March 29.
