Charge Sheets Filed in 34 July Uprising Cases Across Bangladesh

Dhaka: Police have submitted charge sheets in 34 cases associated with the July Mass Uprising incidents before various courts. Thirteen of these charge sheets pertain to murder cases, while the remaining 21 relate to other offenses, as stated by the Police Headquarters.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 1,390 individuals have been charged in the murder cases, and 777 individuals have been charged in other cases. The charge sheets for the murder cases have been presented in courts across six districts-Sherpur, Feni, Chandpur, Cumilla, Dhaka, and Kurigram-as well as two Metropolitan cities, Rajshahi Metropolitan and Chittagong Metropolitan.

In addition, charge sheets for the 21 cases under other sections have been filed in courts across seven districts-Bogura, Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj, Pabna, Naogaon, Mymensingh, and Jamalpur-and three Metropolitan cities, Dhaka Metropolitan, Barishal Metropolitan, and Rajshahi Metropolitan.

Senior police officials are overseeing these cases to ensure thorough investigations of the incidents that occurred during the mass uprising involving students and the public in July and August 2024. The Police Headquarters' statement emphasized that the Bangladesh Police is working to conclude the investigations into other registered cases and to bring those responsible to justice.
